  15. <p>     DIED. The Rev. Benny Newton, 60, activist minister; of
  16. cancer; in Los Angeles. In the early hours of the Los Angeles
  17. riots last year, the pastor of the Light of Love Outreach Church
  18. put himself between a gang of attackers and a victim they had
  19. dragged from his car. Newton, in clerical garb, stood over the
  20. bloody victim and shooed the attackers away. He was honored by
  21. President Bush for his heroism.
